GSU Remembers Dr. Larry Freeman

lf1.JPGIt is with deep sadness that we share with you news of the passing of Larry Freeman, a long-time cherished and admired GSU colleague and friend. Larry passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, 2006.

Colleagues remember Larry Freeman for his friendliness and compassion as well as his dedication to GSU and his determination to continue to develop and improve programs that served so innovatively and humanely the needs of our program candidates, our GSU community, and the region's schools and children.

Dr. Freeman’s career at GSU began in 1983 when he was named Dean of the College of Education. He served the university as professor, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, lecturer, Acting Division Chair in the Division of Education, and, most recently, as an adjunct professor in the College of Education's Alternative Teacher Certification Program.

Dr. Freeman served the university in so many ways and had a huge impact as the College of Education sought and gained its initial NCATE accreditation. After retirement in 2002, he continued to work with the GSU Education faculty. He made many significant contributions toward the development and growth of the alternative certification program in the college.

Information regarding arrangements will be made available soon.

We at GSU, Larry's friends and colleagues, will miss him.
