MILE Sponsors Discussion of Boys' Behavior in School

University Park, January 3, 2007 - The Metropolitan Institute for Leadership in Education (MILE) is sponsoring a lecture and discussion with author and educator, Dr. Paul Slocumb on January 10, at 4 p.m., at the Center for Performing Arts on the campus of Governors State University.

Dr. Slocumb, author of "Hear Our Cry: Boys in Crisis," will discuss boys' behavior in school and how it effects both the learning process and level of success. He will also discuss concrete and informative actions and responses to address the issues raised by boys' behavior in the classroom.

"While there are many identifiable problems facing educators, there are few solutions as effective as the ones discussed by Dr. Slocumb," explained Alicia McCray, Director of MILE. "We want to bring this conversation to educators and the community so that solutions can be developed and implemented locally and success in school can be achieved by all students."

This discussion with Dr. Slocumb is free and open to the public. His book, "Hear Our Cry: Boys in Crisis," will be available for purchase at the event. Governors State University is located at 1 University Parkway, University Park. For more information, call (708) 534-4024.
