It’s not too late to sign up for The Scholarly Publishing Process: How you really get published! It will be held Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in room D2401C. Here is a description of the workshop:
This 2 hour workshop will cover all the topics needed to get you launched or re-invigorated in the world of scholarly publishing. Topics include: how to select journals to publish in; writing a structured abstract, tips on writing the paper, impact factors, and tips on professional presentations and creating poster session materials for professional conferences.

3 people attended the workshop on Friday, June 30th. Everyone said they learned something new and that they had fun. The first 45 minutes was a PowerPoint presentation and the last 1 hour 15 minutes was hands on. Everyone set up an account with an aggregator and then started subscribing to Blogs and RSS feeds. What are Blogs and RSS Feeds?
This workshop is very much hands-on. In this workshop we will explain what Blogs and RSS Feeds are. You will look at different Blogs and search for Blogs on particular topics. You will set up an account with Bloglines and subscribe to different Blogs.
You will learn how to find RSS feeds for newspapers and online news, such as ABC News Online. You can even subscribe to newspaper comic strips.

Basics of Grant Writing for the Novice
This workshop will be offered April 12, 2006, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. in the Library Lab.
The focus is to help you become aware of resources that are available to help you identify potential funders, identify grant annoucements, and to understand whats needed in writing a successful proposal. This workshop is free and all are welcome; but it will focus on the needs of GSU grant writers. There will be handouts.
