<description><![CDATA[<p>Read and enjoy Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood, a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. Satrapi's 2003 book discusses growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. It depicts her childhood. "Persepolis paints an unforgettable portrait of daily life in Iran and of the bewildering contradictions of home life and public life," according to the book flap. The book has been made into a movie, as well. Join the Governors State University community in a discussion of this book</p>

<description><![CDATA[<p>RefWorks is a web-based bibliography and database manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from text files or online databases and other various sources. Citations to books, media, and objects can also be entered manually and stored on the web for access from anywhere.  Your personal database can serve as your personal catalog of references.  You can use these references in writing papers and automatically format the paper and the bibliography in seconds.</p>

<description><![CDATA[<p>Governors State University Library is once again offering four genealogy workshops this fall.  These workshops are open to all GSU students, faculty, staff and the general public. Admission is free!<br />

October 14, 2011 from 2pm until 3:30pm. in room D2430 (Computer Lab).  Starting Your Family Tree.  Are you just beginning to start researching your family history or are you in a slump?  Don't know where to start or what information to collect?  This is the workshop to put some pieces of the puzzle together.  What questions to ask your relatives, what documents to collect and where to find this information will be discussed. Class size is limited to 25 people.<br />

October 28, 2011 from 2pm until 3:30pm in room D2430 (Computer Lab).  Using FamilySearch.org in your Genealogy Research.  Family Search is one of the fastest growing free online websites to use in your genealogy research.  Learn how to use this website and access many of those vital records that you are searching for!  Basic computer skills are required for this workshop.  Class size is limited to 25 people.<br />

November 11, 2011 from 2pm until 3:30 pm in room D2430 (Computer Lab). Using Probate and Inquest Records in Your Genealogy Research.  Probate records can contain a great deal of genealogical information, such as heir ship records, guardianship records, wills, and estate documents.  Many inquest records contain not only information related to the death of an individual but the investigation as well.  Basic computer skills are required for this workshop.  Class size is limited to 25 people.  <br />

November 18, 2011 from 2pm until 3:30pm in room D2430 (Computer Lab).   Using Libraries in Your Genealogical Research.   Libraries are an excellent resource for genealogists!  In addition to local history and genealogical books, many libraries have newspapers, yearbooks, local census records, maps, plat surveys, and electronic databases such as Ancestry.com library edition and Heritage Quest.  Don't forget to use that "Ask a Librarian" feature on the library's website!   Basic computer skills are required for this workshop.  Class size is limited to 25 people.<br />
